Siren
A siren is an effect — live air horn, sample, or synth — blasted over a drop to heighten excitement during clashes and peak session moments, signalling dominance or hyping a rewind-worthy tune.
Why it matters: The siren is sonic punctuation in dancehall performance. Selectors deploy it sparingly or liberally depending on style; overuse risks annoyance, but a well-timed siren can electrify thousands at Sumfest or a street dance.
