Terms of Use

Last updated: 16 September 2026

JamaicansMusic.com (“the Site”, “we”, “us”, “our”) is operated by Esirom. By accessing or using the Site — including the artist archive, music library, radio, news, Patois dictionary, and any submission forms — you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

These terms should be read together with our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle personal data.

1. About the Site

JamaicansMusic.com is an editorial and educational archive dedicated to Jamaican music and culture, online since 2008. Content is provided for personal, non-commercial information and enjoyment.

2. Use of the Site

3. Music, video, and radio

Audio and video in the music library is streamed from third-party platforms (for example YouTube and Spotify) using their embedded players, and radio streams are provided by the respective broadcasters. We do not host or sell this media. Playback is subject to those platforms’ own terms of service, and availability may change or be withdrawn at any time without notice.

If you are a rights holder and believe content is presented on the Site in a way that infringes your rights, please contact us at contact@jamaicansmusic.com with the page URL and details of the work, and we will review the request promptly.

4. Content and accuracy

Artist profiles, biographies, and historical entries are compiled from our own editorial archive and from open data sources including MusicBrainz, Wikidata, and Wikipedia. Wikipedia extracts are reproduced under the CC BY-SA 4.0 licence and remain attributed to their source. We work to keep the archive accurate but cannot guarantee that every entry is complete, current, or error-free. If you spot a mistake, use the Contact page or Suggest an Artist form and we will look into it.

5. Submissions

Where you submit information to the Site — such as an artist suggestion, a Patois usage example, or a broken-recording report — you confirm that you have the right to share it and grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to use, edit, and publish that contribution as part of the archive. We may review, edit, or decline submissions at our discretion. Do not submit content that is defamatory, infringing, or otherwise unlawful.

6. Intellectual property

The JamaicansMusic name, logo, site design, original editorial writing, and the compilation and arrangement of the archive are owned by Esirom or its licensors. Third-party trademarks, artwork, and recordings remain the property of their respective owners and are referenced for identification and commentary.

7. Advertising and third-party links

The Site is supported by advertising (including Google AdSense) and may include affiliate links, for example to record retailers. We may earn a commission from qualifying purchases at no extra cost to you. Links to external websites are provided for convenience; we are not responsible for their content or practices.

8. Disclaimer of warranties

The Site is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the Site will be uninterrupted, secure, or free of errors.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Esirom shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Site or any content on it. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.

10. Changes to the Site or these terms

We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Site at any time. We may also update these terms; material changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the Site after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any dispute will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer protections that apply where you live.

12. Contact

Questions about these terms can be sent to contact@jamaicansmusic.com or via the Contact page.
