Mute

To mute a rival sound in clash culture means decisively outperforming them — so thoroughly that the opponent's set feels silenced. The term is metaphorical bravado, not a technical mute button.

Why it matters: Mute talk fuels clash theatre and selector lyrics. Understanding the term helps readers interpret dubplates, promotional flyers, and post-clash debates about who really won.
