Dub
Echo-drenched studio alchemy — remix culture begins in Kingston.
Dub treats the mixing desk as an instrument: versions strip vocals, emphasise bass and drums, and drench tracks in delay and reverb. King Tubby, Lee "Scratch" Perry, and Augustus Pablo pioneer the form in the 1970s; dub techniques remain central to Jamaican production.
