Sound Battle

A sound battle is informal rivalry between systems — through dubplates, selection, and crowd size — that may or may not culminate in a formal clash, sustaining competitive energy across a season of dances.

Why it matters: Not every rivalry ends on a World Clash stage. Sound battles in parishes keep dubplate economics alive and give younger selectors proving grounds before national visibility.
