Rockers

Rockers names a drum feel with steady kick on every beat or strong downbeats — harder and more rock-influenced than one drop — associated with Sly and Robbie and the Channel One revolutionaries era.

Why it matters: Rockers drumming powered countless roots and early dancehall hits. The term also names a broader production era when drum machines and syndrums began augmenting live kits.
