Channel One

Channel One on Maxfield Avenue was the Hookim brothers' studio and label — home to the Revolutionaries band and countless roots and rockers hits that defined 1970s Kingston production alongside Channel One's distinctive drum sound.

Why it matters: Channel One's rhythm section powered a generation of roots classics. Collectors and producers still hunt "Maxfield" mixes for the punchy drums that influenced dub and early dancehall.
