Rhythm Track
A rhythm track is the underlying beat and chord pattern — live or programmed — onto which vocals are added; in Jamaica the term is often interchangeable with riddim in studio talk, though riddim carries wider cultural meaning.
Why it matters: Distinguishing rhythm track from finished song clarifies production credits and licensing. Many disputes and legends centre on who owns the rhythm versus who voiced it first.
