Band Track
A band track is the live-musician rhythm recording — drums, bass, and chords — laid down before vocals, serving as the shared backbone for multiple voicings, versions, and dub mixes from one session.
Why it matters: Band tracks anchored Jamaican music before drum machines. Producers amortised session costs by voicing many artists on the same track, creating the riddim catalogue model still referenced today.
