Production
Recut
A recut is a new cutting or pressing of a rhythm or vocal — sometimes with altered mix, updated voicing, or refreshed dub — issued when a tune's demand outstrips the first run of vinyl or acetate.
Why it matters: Recuts document how producers responded to yard demand. Collectors distinguish first cuts from later recuts; differences in mix can reveal studio politics and sound-system pressure.
