Masicka has released Generation of Kings, his second studio album and his first for Def Jam Recordings, on Friday, December 1, 2023. The 17-track set follows the singles “Tyrant” and “Limelight,” DancehallMag reports.

Born Javaun Nicholas Fearon, Masicka came through Corey Todd’s Take Ova Records before building his own 1Syde/Genahsyde imprint, and signed with Def Jam earlier this year. His debut 438, released independently in December 2021, spent seven weeks on the Billboard Reggae Albums chart and peaked at No. 2. Luminate data shared with DancehallMag ranked it the third best-selling Jamaican reggae/dancehall album of 2022, with 30 million on-demand streams and more than 35,000 units in the United States by year end.
“The inspiration for this album was really 438 and the journey I went on after that,” Masicka told Quipmag, as quoted by DancehallMag. “438 was like a journey to greatness, this album is about engulfing into that greatness.”
Who is on it
Two long-running partnerships continue: Popcaan on “Stars R Us” (after “Pain” and “Unda Dirt”) and Dexta Daps on “March On” (after “Vanish” and “Leader”). Spice brings the tempo up on “WOW,” while Chronic Law and reggae singer Lila Iké join on “Triumph.” Nigeria’s Fave and Haitian-American singer Fridayy appear on “Fight For Us” and “Wet.” Masicka takes producer credits on ten tracks, with contributions from Mario “Dunw3ll” Dunwell, Boi-1da, Atto Wallance, Moz “Mozeeko” Hamm and Donald “Razzy” Chen, among others.

Launch
Masicka turns 30 on December 4 and marks both occasions with an album launch performance at Club Amazura in Queens, New York, on Saturday, December 2. His run of hits stretches from “Infrared” with Vybz Kartel and “Leader” with Dexta Daps to “Top Form,” “Stay Strong,” “Update,” “Suicide Note” and “They Don’t Know.”
