Jah Decko — the stage name of Suriname-born, Amsterdam-based singer and producer Darl Douglas — is taking bookings for a 2027 “Love Who Loves You Back” tour and readying his first English-language album of the same name for October 5, 2026. The announcement circulated via Reggae Festival Guide / RBA Publishing on September 22, 2026.
This is not a Jamaica birth story. Douglas was born in Paramaribo, moved to the Netherlands young, and grew up in Amsterdam neighbourhoods including the Bijlmer. Scouted by Ajax at eleven, he spent roughly fourteen years as a professional footballer before music took the lead. JamaicansMusic is adding him as a Caribbean-adjacent roots voice — Suriname to Amsterdam — on the same map as the island’s own artists.
From Dreddayouthz to English roots
In 2003 he formed Dreddayouthz, singing Surinamese lyrics on roots reggae riddims, and produced with cousin Marvin Nijhove. Later credits include Joggo’s Modern Rockers Vol. 1 (2011), Ziggi Recado’s Liberation EPs (2012) and Miriam Simone’s Mount Zion (2015). His 2020 EP Rastafar-I Way introduced collaborator Ras Mendel. English tracks recorded around the pandemic — with Douglas (drums & bass), Jacques Nagelhout and Marvin Nijhove — set up the forthcoming album.
Love Who Loves You Back is framed as conscious roots with a modern edge: socially critical lyrics, deep grooves, and a full live band aimed at festivals, clubs and cultural dates in 2027. Bookings and the title-track listen link are collected at linktr.ee/jahdecko.
