Toots Hibbert

Frederick Nathaniel Hibbert (8 December 1942 – 11 September 2020), known as **Toots Hibbert**, was one of reggae's greatest vocalists and a founding father of the genre itself.
As the frontman of **Toots and the Maytals**, he released iconic songs including **"Pressure Drop"**, **"Monkey Man"**, **"54-46 Was My Number"**, and **"Do the Reggay"** — the track widely credited with giving reggae music its name.
Toots was equally influenced by gospel and soul as he was by Jamaican rhythms, creating a style that bridged Caribbean roots and American R&B. He passed away on 11 September 2020 due to COVID-19 complications.
