Vybz Kartel has announced a new album, The Sun, due Friday, 18 December 2026. The Worl’ Boss revealed the project on Instagram in early October — a full collaboration with producer Chambah, a beatmaker he has kept close since walking free from prison in July 2024, DancehallMag reports.
Pre-save links are live at ffm.to/vk_thesun. As of 3 October, Kartel had not shared a tracklist, guest features or cover art beyond the Instagram announcement, DancehallMag notes.
After God & Time
The Sun arrives as the follow-up to God & Time, released 5 June 2026 through TJ Records and Vybz Kartel Muzik. ZIP 103 FM (Jamaica) describes that set as a fourteen-track project featuring collaborations with Spice, Wizkid, Skillibeng, Shenseea, Mavado and Farruko. Kartel also told the station he has a deluxe edition of God & Time in the works.
Rather than spreading production across a long list of beatmakers, The Sun ties Kartel’s name to one collaborator for an entire body of work — a model DancehallMag compares to his 2011 partnership with Dre Skull on Kingston Story.
Post-prison pace
The announcement lands in a year that has not slowed for the Teacha. Since his release he has staged Freedom Street at the National Stadium, been crowned King of Dancehall at Reggae Sumfest 2025, dropped Heart & Soul (August 2025) and filled a run of sold-out shows. A December album keeps that momentum pointed at the studio.
Why it matters
Kartel built his reputation on output — albums voiced from custody, riddims that owned Jamaican radio for a decade, and a Gaza brand that outlasted imprisonment. The Sun is the next chapter in that catalogue: a dated release, a named producer, and a pre-save link before the music lands. What remains unknown is the sound.
