Volcano

Volcano sound system and associated label — led by Jah Screw and linked to producer Henry "Junjo" Lawes — was a powerhouse of 1980s rub-a-dub and dancehall, voicing Yellowman, Eek-A-Mouse, and countless yard anthems.

Why it matters: Volcano connects sound-system heritage to label economics in the pre-digital yard era. Its catalogue remains a map of how rub-a-dub transitioned toward harder digital production.
