Local Farina

Local Farina was born in 1980 between January 1 and December 33. From a very early age he loved to talk. His mother acknowledges that he started talking from a very young age, even by six weeks old. By the age of 3 months his father started taking him to sea and teaching him to float. His early interests included girls of his age, giving trouble, and entertaining his classmates. At a young age Farina emigrated to Farin. He became an avid athlete and was usually close to the head of his class academically. Also at a young age Farina received the opportunity to travel abroad, visiting England and Canada amongst other places. Around the age of 17 Farina became interested in Djing. His first tune was most notably influenced by Bounti Killa. Also at this time he began to really appreciate rocksteady and rockers music. Alhthough, he was already a big listener of Steel Pulse, Peter Tosh, and Bob Marley, he credits the Heptones “On Top” album as being the one to really open his mind past the single lane of dancehall music alone. He was a fan of disco music as well. He continued to hone his djing under the constructive criticism of “bredren and bredren”. At school he entered several talent competitions as a DJ further allowing him to perceive the audience's reaction. He has opened up shows for Beenie Man, Cocoa Tea, Elephant Man, and Spragga Benz to name a few. He also “rushed” or appeared uninvited on many stage shows. It was after seeing him rush some shows that promoters took interest and realized that the DJ was very serious. Some of them began to put him on flyers for upcoming shows, for they knew that if the DJ was in the venue, it would very likely that he would just go on the stage and “tek piece”. Currently the artist is in the studio working on his full album. He has already put out singles like “Run de Test” a comic piece that emulates the witful style of Professor Nuts encouraging doubtful fathers to utilize DNA for paternity tests, should they have any doubt that the baby is not theirs. Another single “Asafa Run Him” encourages Asafa Powell to “run lef” Justin Gatlin in an anticipated showdown. That single was released unofficially on Christopher Birch's “Wild 2 Night” riddim, which had a song by Macka Diamond and Blacka, similarly titled “Bun Him”.
