Last year United Kingdom radio host Aimi Rix walked away with the grand prize for the inaugural staging of the Roots to Reggae contest. By simply submitting a video stating why she loves Jamaica and Jamaican music, Rix was afforded the opportunity to travel to the island for a once in a lifetime experience. For 3 days Rix traveled to different parishes on the island, where she was able to indulge in different aspects of the culture including our music, food and art. Beginning with Bob Marley Museum in Kingston then GeeJam Studio in Portland, Jamnesia in Bull Bay to Dolphin Cove in Ocho Rios, Aimi's first island experience was nothing less than thrilling. On her final day, she contentedly expressed, "I would come back in a heart beat".
Now, The Jamaica Tourist Board and Jamaicansmusic.com is once again offering reggae lovers a similar experience. This time around, the contest is even bigger and better as along with an international winner, a Jamaican winner will also be chosen. The grand prize vacation for the international winner includes round-trip airfare from a major domestic U.S.A./Canada gateway city closest to winner's home, a 4-day/3-night night stay at a Jamaican resort, and ground tours provided in an itinerary prepared by the Sponsors. The local winner will also receive the same prize with the exception of the round trip airfare. Even more exciting, the grand finalists will get the chance to explore Jamaica from 'Roots to Reggae' during the week of Reggae Sumfest in July.
To be eligible to participant persons must be fans of both the Jamaica Tourist Board and Jamaicansmusic.com Facebook pages and 21 years old and over. International contestants should also posses the necessary travel documents needed to visit the island.
The winners will be notified on or about June 13th.
Throughout the duration of the contest weekly prizes will also be given away to persons who answer a trivia question correctly.
