This October join Prince Fatty and his Rub a Dub Allstars for a special chance to witness not one, not two but three Studio One legends live and direct from The Jamm, Brixton. Dennis Alcapone, Winston Reedy and Winston Francis will be nicing up the 'RubaDub' dance, playing classic Studio One selections with the backing of a full live band! Your host for the evening will be the one and only Prince Fatty with his allstar soundsystem crew featuring Hollie Cook, Horseman, Rub a Dub AllStar DJs and probably even a secret special guest or two!

Studio One is Jamaica's most renowned record label and recording studio, having been frequently described by music journalists as "the Motown of Jamaica." The label was founded by the legendary Clement "Coxsone" Dodd in 1954 and the artist list reads like a whos who of Jamaican music. Studio One was involved with recording most of the major music movements in Jamaica during the 1960s and 1970s, including ska, rocksteady, reggae, dub and dancehall.

Studio One has recorded and released music by (and had a large hand in shaping the careers of) artists such as The Skatalites, The Ethiopians, Bob Marley and the Wailers, Lee "Scratch" Perry, Marcia Griffiths and more. As Studio One started to produce major international artists on a regular basis it was not long before it was referred to as the 'University of Reggae' and indeed, the 'foundation label of all reggae music'.

Dennis Alcapone was one of the original microphone talkers to follow the great URoy and is one of the most prolific reggae recording artists of the 1970s. Winston Reedy was the singer for the Cimarons England's first proper reggae band and is an exemplar of reggae's tradition of sweet voiced singers who took their cue from Curtis Mayfield. The two met back in 1973 when Alcapone first came to the UK and have become regular touring partners with Reedy singing the A sides to Dennis' many version. Their stage presence, charisma and energy is second to none and they know exactly how to make the crowd move.

Winston Francis has been a supporter of reggae music since it's birth in Jamaica over 50 years ago. During the1960's, he was a member of such outfits as the Sheridans (which also included reggae musician Pat Kelly), before joining and singing with Carlos Malcolm & the Afro Jamaicans. By the late '60s, Francis had relocated to the United States and was introduced to renowned reggae producer Clement "Coxsone" Dodd, who took Francis under his wing and signed him to Studio One. This is a rare opportunity to witness a real heavy weight of the genre on stage in such an intimate setting.

Your host Prince Fatty will be rounding off the evening with a full soundsystem show featuring MC extraordinaire, Horseman, the beautiful vocal talents of the one and only Hollie Cook and undoubtedly a special guest or two!

Make sure you do not miss out on a brilliant opportunity to see these Studio One reggae greats as well as the Prince Fatty Soundsystem representing both the new and old of Jamaican and British reggae royalty in one place, on one night this October 12th at Brixton Jamm!
