Sacred Heart Riddim Review Image

Divided into two parts, the Sacred Heart Riddim juggles as a captivating tug-of-war between social commentary and intimacy.

Produced by SocialYaad Records/SocialYaad.Com, the riddim plays as a laid-back composition with a steadily walking bassline. Through hints of piano-riddled jabs, songs transition effortlessly with themes and concepts blending together in a way not often displayed in other riddim productions. With the first half of the riddim (namely Reflections) speaking on topical/social issues, it's certainly hard not to be taken aback by the varying stories being told as the second half of the riddim (namely Affections) sets a more romantic tone.

Having Jah Vinci, Denyque, Navino, Masicka and T'Nez amongst the standout tracks, the only downfall of the riddim comes from the instrumental remaining the same for both halves of the riddim. Adding other elements to the production (whichever half) would have helped to differentiate between the themes and not rely heavily on the lyrical content to push the difference. Nonetheless, the production played smoothly with lyrics that provoke untapped thoughts.

Rating: 8.5/10
