JAMusic: Some of the most genius artistes have thrived when taking chances and innovating. How important/present is that on the soundscape today; from what you've seen and that might have help in composing your singles?
E: Innovation is forward movement, and it’s a good thing to explore new sounds, though some of the music playing on the radio now reflects what could have been put in a time capsule if you listen for patterns. My music is composed from my mood and what’s happening in my life or in the world around me. I’m not trying to take risks, just make good music. 

JAMusic: What elements do you hold that’ll define you as an entertainer as oppose to just another artiste?
E: Me make me different. Things me do make me different. I enjoy entertaining but it’s not with intent to be a super star. If the people like my music and want to see Eesah perfom, I welcome them and will be my best in being myself.  

JAMusic: What's the biggest risk you've taken artistically; one that went over surprisingly well and one that might've gone over people's heads?
E: For one, we don’t take risks. Anything we do, my team; we make sure its what we want to do. We make sure it’s something people will like as a quality product. We don’t take risks in music. We plan every move. Straight. 

JAMusic: What do you consider to be the greatest obstacle that you had overcome in achieving your current status?
E: The biggest obstacle is yet to come. Still riding the wave. 

JAMusic: Let’s talk a bit about your latest single Run Ova Dem. What’s the story behind the song and what’s the message you’re trying to portray?
E: Run Ova Dem is about being aware of the company you keep. "Some boy mek hypeness take over dem", personifies how to differentiate the real from the fake. It’s about being aware of a wolf dressed in sheep's clothing. The song touches on the fact that once you have encountered genuine camaraderie, a poser can’t fool you. True friendship stands to the test of time.

 

JAMusic: When it came to the visuals for the Run Ova Dem, was the creative direction your vision or you allowed your team to take lead? 
E: Run Ova Dem visual was a collaborative effort between my team, VybNation Records who pro- duced the record, and Juss Buss Productions. The idea was to portray the story with simplistic props that represent the various elements one would normally see with a story like this. There are many music videos coming out of Jamaica that depict the look of the garrisons the same way over and over, so we decided to do something different. For example, the one piece of zinc fence rep- resents the neighbourhood. We wanted to leave room for the viewer to use their imagination. 

JAMusic: With the single now in rotation on local and international radio stations what insight can you give on the power of music and its ability to communicate certain messages verbally and non-verbally? And what do you think your music represent?
E: Music is powerful and can impact people in deep ways. The platforms available for messages to reach beyond boarders are growing everyday. It is a great responsibility to keep in mind when sending out a message. My message is Love. Every time. 

JAMusic: What would you consider to be the greatest contributor to your musical diversity and versatility?
E: Life. I sing about life experiences. I also listen to many genres over the course of time from then till now. Exploring sounds past and present inspires me creatively in my songwriting and production. 

JAMusic: How does your musical influences compound when you are sitting to write a song and record it? / Apart from them being timeless, what drew you to all the artistes that influence your sound?
E: Well, one thing about my song writing is I don’t actually write it down. My lyrics typically come from the vibe of the music and how I’m feeling at that particular moment. It’s organic and impromptu at times. Once I record and finalize a song, I can recall it from memory when its time to perform. Life influences my sound. 

JAMusic: We live in an era where the average person's attention span is limited to what they want to see or hear. What are you doing differently that will hold their attention?
E: To tell you the truth, I’m not trying to get anyone’s attention. You see, inna life if you want fi learn you have to take the time out to listen. As a youth growing up young wild and free we never listen for the calling. It is reality that people have good talks to bring to you, so we need to listen. Them come form all different angles and walks of life, so you have to take the time to realize someone is trying to tell you something good. This is what I want everyone to know. I’m not trying to force anything on you or telling you how to live this way or that way, but if you listen to my music and hear something you like, it means you hear the calling. 

JAMusic: When you look to the future, what are some of the areas you’d like to change professionally and personally?
E: Everybody will look to see what the future will bring, but it’s about how you go into the future that is the key. Knowing what you want and to be able to make a change and see progress is the goal. I would like to continue growing and allow life to happen. 

JAMusic: What's the purpose on your musical journey? What's the message you're trying to give?
E: My purpose is to bring the message to as many people as I can. To show them there is much more to them than they think of themselves. You can’t worry what other people think, you have to decide your life how fi live. You have to take time out to believe in yourself and know that you can do anything your mind is capable of visualizing. It’s always a positive vibes when you hear from Eeash, weather it be on a dancehall or reggae beat, it’s always about love.
