Is their any special meaning behind your name?
Most I know is it's completely french [lol]. I have no idea what it means. It is, however, my real name.
What kinds of music did you listen to growing up?
Wow; I listened to all types of music except country and alternative. The first album I ever bought was "Pink - Can't Take Me Home".
When was "the moment" that you discovered singing would be your career?
I was 18 & in the waiting room for my audition for the Berklee College of Music.
What do you think separates you from other artists?
Ahh; I hate this question. Lol. Ok fine I don't hate it. I believe it's the fact that I'm pretty balanced between a dream & reality. I take the downs as graciously and accepting as I take the ups, I know that no matter what, the sun ALWAYS shines after it rains. and as Dr. Seuss says: "You have brains in your head, You have feet in your shoes, You can steer yourself in any direction you choose. There's no one out there that's YOU-ER than YOU." Quod Me Nutrit Me Destruit (What Nourishes Me Destroys Me). It keeps me grounded.
Are you a songwriter or do you intend to have someone or other people write songs for you?
I am also a songwriter, by profession, & I'm working on that craft day by day. It doesn't hurt to have someone else write for you though; sometimes two heads are better than one. At the moment, my very close friend & work partner Charlotte [Charli] Spence writes with me and we call our writing group Gawjus.
What message do you want to send to people through your lyrics?
I want to send positive and relatable messages.
Who are some of the international artistes that you respect and admire and would like to do collaborations with in the future?
I'm influenced by people who remind me of myself and people who I know I can learn from without straying too far. Growing up I grew to love, respect & admire Pink & Aaliyah [RIP], along with veterans like Celine Dion & Whitney Houston. Recently, I'm drawn to people like Keri Hilson, Beyonce's an inspiration, Lil Wayne, T.I., Ludacris and Alicia Keys. Hopefully I'll be able to work with just one if not all of the afore-mentioned.
Of the songs you have done, which one most represents you as a person and as an artiste?
Without a doubt, I have to say my newest single "Supergirl".
How far do you want to take your music?
As it is my number one dream and my main focus I will definitely be doing music for as long as life permits, hopefully producing my own music & exposing other great talent in the world.
Do you have any other career interests outside of music?
Of course! Music will be my platform to fulfill other goals. I also want to get involved in global foundations for the fight against AIDS, Cancer & Domestic Abuse. I'm an artsy person so anything that involves creativity. Architectural Engineering, Interior Design, Media/PR, Law and outside of all that I've always taken a liking to Psychology and Criminology/Forensics.
What are the downsides to singing?
I wouldn't call it a downside but I'd have to say having to protect my voice 24/7, 365 days a year!
When can we expect your first album?
I have no idea. Lol. *blush*
What do you do for fun?
I'm a TV-oholic. Movies, TV Shows etc. I love hanging out with my friends whenever we can, family, driving, partying, KALOOKI <3
What is your greatest fear?
To leave this earth knowing I did not make a difference in this world.
What do you think is the future of Jamaican music?
I really can't say. I have never thought of it.
If there were one thing you could change about Jamaica today, what would it be?
I'd definitely try to change the level of criminal behavior and violence and I'd try as hard as I could to improve the government.
