Biography
read full storyWingless Angels are a Jamaican reggae group led by the prolific Justin Hinds, who are best known for their self-titled album produced by the Rolling Stone legend, Keith Richards.
Veteran reggae musician Justin Hinds was living in Steertown near Ocho Rios in the 1990's, where he led a group of local nyabinghi musicians. The group included Winston "Black Skull" Thomas, Milton "Bongo Neville" Beckford, "Bongo" Locksey Whitlock, Warrin Williamson, Maureen Fremantle, Vincent "Jackie" Ellis and Bongo Jackie. A few years before Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards had bought a home in Ocho Rios and became friends with Hinds. While Richards was on vacation, he and producer Rob Farboni recorded the group one night in 1995 playing in his own summer house living room. This gave rise to the band's first album called Wingless Angels. The collaboration went on to produce on more album called Wingless Angels II before fading into obscurity after the death of Bongo Jackie.
A few of the classic songs were re-released by Richards in 2010 with some new songs which were recorded right before the death of the band's leader Justin Hinds.
