Warrior King was born in Kingston on the 27th of July, 1979. He spent his younger years in the town of Clarendon, but moved to the more rural region of Portmore at age eleven. It was while at high school that he started his musical career as he gained experience from performing in small talent shows. He first began at the Tastee Talent Show and his musical influences were evident as his love for Bounty Killa's style of music was reproduced in his own work. However, with time, his singing style changed to a more holistic "singjay" sound.

Warrior King released his debut single "Virtuous Woman" in 2001 and the track was an immediate success gaining both local and international fame. Upon the heels of his auspicious beginnings, he released more singles such as "A Friend Indeed", "Jah is Always There" and "Never Go Where Pagans Go". These songs gained recognition throughout the Caribbean and across the globe especially in places like London, New York and Tokyo. His song "Never Go Where Pagans Go" was included on VP Records' compilation set "Reggae Gold 2002" and this helped to raise the artist's profile.

The singer went on to release his debut album with VP Records titled "Virtuous Woman" which included 17 full-length tracks that all reflect Warrior King's belief that music can "uplift people's heart, mind and soul in a positive way."
