Biography
read full storyVersatile is a young. vibrant artiste out of Jamaica who is currently climbing the ranks in the Jamaican music circle and earning the respect of local musicians.
Born Sheldon Taylor, on July 29th, 1986, Versatile initially dreamed of becoming a fireman, but it seems destiny had other plans for the youngster. While at primary school, Taylor began entertaining those around him with music, but his talents did not stop there. As he progressed through primary and high school, Taylor seemed to be versed in a wide range of academic and extra-curricular activities, as he accomplished most tasks with ease. It was then that his mother began to notice his versatility, and when he formally entered the music scene, his mother suggested that he call himself "Versatile". The name became official when Mario C of 357 records coined it.
Versatile currently operates under Romeich Records where he was able to record the hit single, "Bank Inna Pocket". The song received heavy airplay and served to increase Taylor's popularity. On the same label, Taylor has written songs for both Bounty Killer and Beenie Man. This opened the doorway for him to go on tour with Beenie Man in the US, UK, Canada, Kenya, Uganda and a host of Caribbean Islands. Versatile has also evolved to become a popular fixture on local stage shows most notably Summer Sizzle in 2009.
With the birth of his son Damani, Versatile was prompted to create his own label, which was named after his son. He has since gone on to produce the "Snub Out" riddim which features songs from D'Angel, Beenie Man, Laden, and Versatile himself.
While still focusing on his music career, Versatile has always understood the importance of education and as such would one day like to return to school to complete a degree, but for now, there is no telling how far Versatile can go, if his success at such a young age is any indication of what the future holds for the young star.
