You get a small package and inside there is a huge surprise – that’s a great way to describe Tanya Asaki. Her smooth and silky voice is already been in demand in many countries, including Dubai, China, Thailand and Malaysia. Born in Toronto to Jamaican parents; music has always been a big part of her life. One of her fondest memories is singing for her graduating class, accompanied by a live orchestra. She followed that up by setting her path firmly in music, after much encouragement from family and friends. Her music education began at Etobicoke School of Arts and continued at Humber College where she studied Business Management & Vocal Jazz. With this training and experience, coupled with her innate talent, Tanya never disappoints! Tanya Asaki stepped it up a notch in 1999 when she led her own six piece band called “The Unit” on an overseas tour of Asia. While growing up she was an ardent fan of songbird Whitney Houston. Now a budding diva in her own right, she is knocking on the door of success. Her latest single, “I Love You Still”, shows her versatility, style and unique sound. It’s a nice Dancehall/Pop Track, captivating and fresh. Her music ranges from Rock ‘n Roll to Adult Contemporary to Reggae Soul. Tanya has already gotten a taste of the spotlight as she was a guest on an episode of Soul Food. Her talent landed her a back-up gig for seven-time Grammy Nominee R&B Singer, Kelly Price, and Canada’s R&B artist Deborah Cox. One of the strongest links Tanya has made in her music career is her recent relationship with the well-known Big Ship Recording Studio and Treasure Chest Productions. “I Love You Still” is written by Producer Bobby Treasure & Tanya Asaki, and the track was built and mixed by Stephen “Di Genius” McGregor of Big Ship. “I want to be heard. It is important for my music to encourage and influence others, and it has to be heart-felt,” says Tanya. Not very often a true artist comes along who can multi-task on stage. She writes, composes and arranges her songs, and has no problem staying current. Every day Tanya is working hard to expand her music opportunities between Canada, Jamaica, Asia and beyond. She is busy connecting the dots, while pushing up and up, breaking that glass ceiling! “I’m ready to take it to the next level.” This beautiful flower is ready to bloom, and the package she offers is without question full of talent, good energy, professionalism and personality. ‘ Watch out fi dis!’
