Biography
read full storyThere is a Roots Reggae Revival in the air and Pentateuch is poised to keep the torch fueled by culturally rich and quality music blazing. Pentateuch is the manifestation of five musicians who crossed paths as students at the Edna Manley College, and embarked on a journey to “The Genesis,” their debut album.
Pentateuch introduced themselves to the live music circuit with the Afrikan consciousness anthem “Blackface.” This first single earned the band the respect and affection of a loyal and steadily increasing listenership. They are Kevor “Var” Williams on lead vocals, Brady “Jah Bradez” Robinson on drums, Andrew “Worm” Ayre on bass, Andrade “Dradi” Bowen on keyboards and Garth “Duckie” Forester on guitar.
The second single following “Blackface” was “Cancer Survivor,” which was inspired by a young relative and donated to the Cancer Society of Jamaica, with all iTunes sales contributing to that cause. Their debut album “The Genesis” (2012), produced under the expert guidance of Paul “Computer Paul” Henton, promises to catalyse a “spiritual and mental revolution,” according to Pentateuch. Jimmy Cliff’s “I Can See Clearly Now” is just one of the many Billboard-ranking hits in Henton’s repertoire.
Socially conscious lyrics, unforgettable melodic hooks and soul-stirring live performances are their signature. Their music is soul food and their message and mission of universal love is irresistible. “The Genesis” is by all indications feeding the source of an especially significant shift.
