read full storyIn 2007, lead singer Jesse-James Cameron formed Makeshift Innocence. Cameron lived and went to school in Negril, Jamaica where he fell in love with the tones and feel of Reggae – music that now infuses the group’s Rock, Reggae, Pop and Roots sounds with authentic Caribbean flavour.
Known as one of Western Canada's best live acts, selling out 10 Alberta shows in 2010. They showcased twice at Canadian Music Week 2011, were one of 12 bands from around the world to showcase at the Worldwide Radio Summit in Los Angeles on April 30, and one of 32 bands chosen from around the world to showcase at MUSEXPO in Hollywood on May 1, 2011 (and were called the 10 out of 10 act by the founder of A&R worldwide, Sat Bisla). Makeshift Innocence also showcased at COCA in Whistler on June 21, 2011 and will be touring Canada and the western US in the fall of 2011. Makeshift Innocence will also be performing at Sound City-Liverpool, England in May 2012.

In 2009, Makeshift set out on a Canada-wide summer tour spanning Vancouver Island to Montreal. They built their fan base, sold out of their original pressing of 1000 CDs and watched their single "Your Body" propel to the top of Canada’s Myspace charts. Makeshift have ranked in Myspace Canada's Top 10 in several categories, including #1 in Folk Rock, #2 in Reggae and #6 in acoustic and have been steadily increasing those numbers for over the past two years. "Your Body" now has over 1,000,000 plays.
Recently, "Your Body" and "Tides" were heard in the feature film "The Anniversary".
