read full storyFew performers have the dexterity and the confidence to switch with ease from one discipline to another and become successful at it. Aisha Davis or simply Aisha is one of those few. The Bermuda native who now calls Jamaica home is truly multitalented. After arriving in Jamaica at an early age and excelling in her studies at Immaculate Conception High; Aisha wanted to reach for her dreams and fulfill her lifelong desire of becoming a performer.
While at Immaculate Aisha joined the Little people and teen players club where she excelled at dancing and singing This success would lead her to become one of the founding members of the Ashe Ensemble. Not being satisfied Aisha joined the famed Lacadco Dance Company and has not looked back since. Now boasting a burgeoning music career Aisha wants to claim 2009 for herself.
After conquering the dance stage Aisha has become one of the brightest stars in the galaxy of up and coming artistes on the reggae scene today. It was in not so long ago that Aisha decided to chase her lifelong dream of becoming a professional singer. A stroke of luck brought her on tour in 2001 with Kimani Marley and she would excel on this tour and continue touring with Kimani until 2003. Aisha has become at such a young age a veteran of the international touring scene having completed tours with Shaggy (2004/5), Coco Tea (2007) and Alborosie (2008).
Fast forward to 2009 Aisha has amassed a large catalogue of singles and some notable collaborations with the likes of Tony Curtis, Konshens, Shaggy and D’Angel, as well as backing artistes such as Lutan Fyah, Baby Cham and Tanya Stephens to name a few. Aisha has also done worked Anthony B with whom she did the smash hit: Someone Loves You Honey. The song was a chart topper and was even featured on BET as well as on numerous cable and radio stations in the Caribbean, the New York Tri-State Area and the southern United states.
She has worked with several top producers in the business including Shane Brown, Kirk 'Kirkledove' Bennett, Mathew 'Preki' Lawrence, Ward 21, Donovan Germaine, Lenky and Calli B out of New York. These alliances have created such gems as: Murder, Say My Name, My Life and the underground favourite Love SOS. Aisha has also just released a collaboration with D’Angel dubbed Thank You.
Boasting a voice to die for and an unassuming persona, the artiste sings from the heart and is noted for writing her own material; an ability that she doesn’t take for granted.
“I write what I feel, my music is my passion, and I take my work very seriously and approach it with drive and desire”.
Aisha, now working on her debut album My Life to be released in the last quarter of 2009 is still humble in her early success.
“I don’t want fame, I want success, I sing songs that people can relate to and ones that inspire them to live, love and be happy” She continues: “Everyday I remember that what I am doing is not only for me but also for those who believe in my music and the positive messages of love and joy, I am humbled by this”.
Aisha has come far in the music business at such a young age. She has maintained her focus on creating positive uplifting sounds. The artiste is poised for greatness and continues to manifest the quality, humility and passion she has become known for. This attractive young princess has already made a special mark on the reggae music landscape and is destined for bigger things.
