Dancehall artist Wasp was born Marvin Clarke on December 15th, 1982.

It was while still attending high school that Marvin realized he had a dream to pursue a career in the music industry after winning the Island Grill talent contest in 1994. While involved in this performance that would eventually change his life direction, he took on the name Wasp as his friends claimed he gave a hot and "wassy" performance. Two years later he began performing in stage shows and getting invloved with already established deejays who could help him get some recognition. Soon after this he recorded his first single with dancehall artist Jagwa, but it was his collaboration with Spragga Benz on a track entitled "Best a Dem" that gave him the break he was seeking. The song was an instant success and his following of supporters rapidly grew.

He started his own label with Zooma called Park to Park Entertainment and he teamed with Throwback Entertainment to produce his first mixtape called "The Buzz". The mixtape was released in 2007 and was an instant success in Jamaica, Miami and Florida. The tape impressed heads at Black Chiney productions and they immediately recorded a single entitled "Buss de Place" which got heavy rotation on radio stations across the island. The song was so popular that a video was eventually made, and this video caught the attention of producer Don Corleone. Wasp then recorded "Step to Dem" on Corleone's "Atmosphere" riddim which was exceedingly popular at the time. While continuing to impress the producer, Wasp released a single on Don Corleone's label entitled "All these Things". He eventually went on to record tracks such as "Ano Man", "Nuh Hold Back Nutten", and "Deh de Wid".

Wasp got the support and recognition of the entire island when he released "Unfair Officer" with WMP. He followed this hit with his 3rd number 1 release titled "Cry fi Dem". Since then he has been performing across the island in shows such as Reggae Sumfest (2009), Sting, Fully Loaded, ATI and Reggae in the Valley.
