Biography
read full storyQQ set the record as the youngest entertainer to ever come out of Jamaica with a local and regional hit song.
Kareem 'QQ' Dawkins had his first hit song at the age of 10, when most other children his age were busy playing at school. The song was titled "Poverty" and it climbed the local charts and dominated airwaves in Jamaica and even received airplay in England. He released 2 more singles in quick succession that were also well received by the local population namely, "Never Know The Use Of Her" and "Better Must Come".
In 2006, he released a slightly more adult dance song titled "Stukie" which received heavy rotation on airways throughout the Caribbean. This particular track opened doors for the youngster to travel across the region and perform his hit single as the song was particularly popular at clubs and parties. He performed at Reggae Sumfest that same year alongside international acts such as Missy Elliot, Rihanna, and 50 cent. He also went on to perform at the Champions In Action concert in Africa that featured Buju banton, Beenie Man, Sanchez and Bounty Killer.
He followed "Stukie" with "Room Ram" which was another party favourite in the same year. But this was just the beginning for QQ as in 2007 he performed in even more stage shows most famously Spring Break alongside Beenie Man and T-Pain. He used the year to travel to performances in Trinidad, Anguilla, the US and the Cayman Islands. 2008 however has proved to be the youngster's most promising year as he performed on local shows such as Campfire, Spring Bling, Elephant Man's Birthday Bash and local food festivals. He even headlined a show in Miami later in the year.
His early exposure to the industry both locally and regionally means that QQ has an understanding of what audiences want, and this can only work to his advantage in the future. QQ continues to work hard, vowing not to become a faded child star as he hopes to be part of the local industry for a very long time.
