Landlord is one of the most important voices of his generation, having been spared the ravages of a brutal street life to excel as a world renowned gospel dub minister and business owner, Landlord's life is indeed what some movie plots are derived from.

Born Orlando Francis in Nassau, Bahamas on August 4th 1974, Landlord as his friends nicked named him because he could execute street gymnastics without shoes thus earning him the moniker 'Lord of the Land' or Landlord. However Landlord's world and childhood was far more dramatic than his friends knew. He grew up with his mother and step father whom he did not discover was not his real father until he was ten years old. The family was extremely poor and could not afford the $30 weekly rent. After a year of being delinquent on the weekly rental the landlord took off the back and front doors, exposing their entire household to mockery and ridicule from neighbors and pass-a-bys.

As a rejected child, Landlord felt that sting of un-acceptance and rejection because of having two foreign parents (his mother from Jamaica and his step father from Haiti), which usually lead to a barrage of insults and abuse from his school mates. He also did not have what the other kids had, clean clothes, lunch and a regular school bag instead he had to carry a brief case to school which he bumped from his step father. Landlord knows first hand what the hard life is all about, not having enough food, proper shelter and sufficient underwear (he would have to daily wash the only one he had).

For a long time the singer felt cursed because both of his parents were foreign born and coupled with the constant pressures from peers Landlord eventually found solace in the streets and in a lawless life. This lead to a young life consumed with crime and brushes with the law and also resulted in him being kidnapped and almost killed but by the grace of God his life was spared no doubt to allow him an opportunity to use his undeveloped talent to spread the gospel.

Not only did Landlord have to contend with the scraps that life threw his way, he also had the additional burden of having to cope with his mother's mental illness which often times manifested in embarrassing episodes where his mother would show up at his school with three hats, three sunglasses and mismatched clothes. The kids would laugh and even throw rocks at her, this added to his own mental torture. To compound an already stressed family ordeal, his younger brother also suffers from mental illness resulting in both his mother and brother spending time in a local mental institute for treatment over the years.

It was during a time when this troubled young man was at his lowest that his life finally turned around. In 1995 during a special outreach in the middle of Rawson Square downtown Nassau, Bahamas, Landlord traded his life of sorrow for a life of real peace. Landlord's introduction to Christ came as a result of the radical evangelistic work of Operation Redemption founder Minister Carlos Ried and Youth Alive Ministries founder Dave Burrows. From that point on life took on a new meaning and Landlord under the mentorship of Ried, Burrows and his new pastor Dr. Myles Munroe started to grow spiritually and he soon discovered the purpose for his untapped talent-giving glory to God and winning souls like himself to Christ.

As it turns out Landlord was always involved in music, singing secular music at local dances and parties, however it was while seeing some of his fellow new converts like Christian Massive, Peter Runks and Marky Maxx use reggae as a tool to worship and give praise to God that he quickly realized that he could do the same. Landlord spent the next few years involved in heavy evangelism where he got an opportunity to use his vocal skills to reach some of the same people whom he had left behind. These experiences truly opened his eyes to the endless possibilities before him and with some encouragement from longtime friend and Christian Massive founder Kent 'Spy' Johnson, Landlord entered the recording studio for the first time and the result was 'Seek Ye First', a one song cassette single that was released locally in 1997. The single earned Landlord his first Marlin Award nomination in 1998.

Riding the tidal wave of success with his single, in 1999 Landlord released his second project; a full length album entitled 'Never Forget Where You Come From'. From the release of 'Never Forget Where You Come From' Landlord spent the next few years promoting the album and expanding his ministry wings on the road in countries like Nigeria, England, Orlando, Jacksonville Fl, Barbados, Tulsa, Mexico, Jamaica,

Things were finally starting to look up for the barefoot youth from one of the Bahamas inner city constituencies, however although he was climbing the ladder of artistic success, there was still something missing, a connection with his real father. The answer to this prayer was closer than Landlord realized. While ministering in 2002 at a revival in Jamaica with his pastor Dr. Myles Munroe, several ladies in the audience were intrigued by the testimony of the young gospel reggae singer and upon hearing that his real name was Orlando Francis and that his father was Jamaican but had no way of locating him, the ladies inwardly felt that perhaps this was the missing nephew from the Bahamas whom they had only heard tales about.

The ladies bought his CD and called him in Nassau and after asking him some questions their suspicions soon became facts and they realized that they were indeed related. The aunts spoke with his father who called Landlord the next week. Days later Landlord was on a flight to Jamaica to meet his father for the first time, a bus driver by the name of Johnny Miller who has since relocated to the big apple New York City. The singer also met his mother's family, who are also of Jamaican decent one year after linking with his father's family. Landlord also recently changed his last name from Francis to compliment his father's name and is now legally Orlando Miller.

With his personal affairs in order, Landlord was ready to get back to work and in late 2002 he returned to the studio to begin work on his latest project, an album that would eventually be called 'We Need Peace'. Landlord's vision was to produce and release the best recording he could and so he decided to record the album in the land of his heritage, Jamaica. To oversee the production, Landlord enlisted the creative services of one of Jamaica's top producers, Trevor 'Skatta' Bonnick, the keyboardist of the Grammy Award winning group Inner Circle.

It was while recording the album in Jamaica that Landlord got a chance to meet Alkatraz, a Jamaican dee-jay who in turn introduced Landlord to Luciano, one of reggae's biggest artists. As fate would have it, the single 'We Need Peace' was supposed to have been recorded with Morgan Heritage but due to the band being on tour in New York and after some time in prayer & fasting, Landlord along with his native brethren Solo settled on Luciano and through that connection with Alkatraz, Landlord was able to connect with Luciano by phone and two days after the man himself dropped by the studio, submitted his vocal contribution and the rest they say is history. In 2004 Landlord signed with Bahamas based recording and distribution label Creative Soul Entertainment and in November 2004 the album 'We Need Peace' was officially released worldwide.

Since the release of the 'We Need Peace' single with Luciano, Landlord has successfully established meaningful relationships with many in the secular reggae world. The hit single and matching video has also landed in the top ten charts on the world renowned reggae music website http://www.musikmedia.com . Landlord also became the first Bahamian artists ever to grace the German secular music charts, peaking at number 5 with the We Need Peace Single. He has also been showcased on Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN) ,wordnetwork on the bobby jones show and has opened shows for some of the most popular secular and gospel artist and pastors around the world.

For several years Landlord worked full time at Operation Redemption, a local organization that ministered to troubled teens, serving as a supervisor of their car wash division and it was also where he was provided with living accommodations in a trailer, where he stayed for five years. However in less than one year after resigning from Operation Redemption Landlord has launched his own business, Landlord's Auto Detailing has three locations in Nassau and eight employees. The Lord has truly blessed Landlord for his years of faithfulness and obedience. He has also bought his own property and recently constructed his own home since recently being married to his long time sweetheart Larue Munroe, who works in the local banking arena.

Through it all, Landlord says he does not regret what he went through, saying that it has made him stronger and able to appreciate all that he has today and thus inspiring his life's slogan and the title of his first album. Never Forget Where You Come From. He also believes that his mission is to inspire people to worship God. Landlord says that he is also motivated daily by what has become his life's mission statement-I don't ever want to die but never existed because at least I know when I die, people would have known I lived.
