Jamaicans will have a chance to hang with shining US stars at the fifth annual Caribbean Classic Celebrity Golf Invitational (CCGI) Tournament and Charity Event being held in Montego Bay, June 24-28.
For the event, being hosted by the RISARC/CCGI Foundation, founding organiser Jamaican-born Richard Stephenson has, since its inception in 2005, fêted an impressive list of participants including government officials, top business executives and A-list celebrities.
Bill Bellamy, Cedric the Entertainer, Julius Irving, Steve Harvey, Chris Tucker, Anthony Anderson, Jeffrey Anderson Gunther and Tony Siragusa, have been consistent in supporting the event over the years. This year the list includes Kevin Sorbo, John Salley, Cobi Jones, Ed Jones and Kiki Shepard, Cedric the Entertainer, Bill Bellamy, Without A Trace’s Eric Close, Crimson Tide’s Matt Craven and many others.
So far, the tournament has been an ideal vacation with purpose for the attendees. While indulging in a highly favoured sport, attendees and celebrities, seize the opportunity to team with RISARC/CCGI Foundation in addressing the challenges in most primary schools on the island, a lack of computers.

Funds earned are directed at providing computers and creating technology learning centres, enabling Jamaica’s children access to the world. The RISARC/CCGI Foundation bridges the technology gap for Caribbean children with limited resources.
The tournament and charity event’s success has resulted in technology learning centres, with brand new Dell computers, being created in well over 60 primary schools islandwide.
This year’s goal is to donate more than 400 brand new Dell computers and continue the foundation’s mission to establish computer labs/learning centres in every primary school.
Now in its fifth year, the main scheduled activities range from a star-studded VIP welcome and culture night on Wednesday, June 24, to Pro Golf tournament and black tie gala and awards presentation ceremony on Saturday, June 27.
Other events include an amateur golf tournament and comedy showcase, both on Thursday, June 25. On Friday there will be a press conference, beach-a-thon and a featured ‘Champions of Champions II’ MuayThai fight with 10 world title bouts at stake.
