The island-flavored clip, which garnered MTV Buzzworthy status last fall, has been riding multiple media waves since making its U.S. broadcast debut on BET’s 106 & Park’s ‘Young Starz Week,’ kicking off the song’s successful nationwide campaign. The colorful clip finds the Jamaican born singer infusing her ‘answer’ to the 1990s Red Rat dancehall classic ‘Tight Up Skirt,’ with her own brand of sassy bearing.
Stamping her name with the ‘J’ for her home country Jamaica that she loves, she’s also created a signature buzz at U.S. radio, having been confirmed for Hot97 Reggae Tip!, with “Tight Skirt” becoming a favorite at stations in Boston, Hartford, Albany and Tampa, among others.
The 17 year old star, who also models, is currently working on her Columbia Records debut album, certain to include more of what she calls her ‘homegrown, dancehall pop’ that is resonating with global tastemakers via her precocious vocal style that unmistakably reflects her Kingston roots.
