Biography
read full storyBorn Candace Thorbourne in Kingston Jamaica, iCandy, the youngest sister of well-known singing duo, Brick and Lace, undeniably shares the family musical gene and from a young age excelled in the performing arts. In 2004 she was crowned 2nd runner up in The Miss Jamaica World Pageant and won their prestigious talent award. Shortly afterwards she signed with 180 Entertainment and worked on her first demo project collaborating with Grammy award- winning producer, Tricky Stewart, The Dream, Maddscientist and others.
Then known as Candace, she inadvertently gained writer status when producers such as Jr. Rottem, T-minus and others recognized her song-writing ability and invited her to work on a few projects. With a history of writing with her sisters, including having written on the Brick and Lace “Love is Wicked” album, it was a natural progression for iCandy and her three sisters to form Bloodline, a song-writing team which represents the strength and unity of the sisterhood. Bloodline has been emerging as formidable writers in the industry and already has album placements with major artistes.
In addition to her work as a Bloodline member, iCandy has been making solid advances with her parallel career as a recording artiste. In collaboration with popular French DJ/producers, Golden Crew, iCandy’s single, “Sexyfied” has made the French charts top 100.
Although a diversified artiste incorporating dance/r&B/pop in her music, iCandy has not departed from her roots and fuses dancehall and reggae into her sound, a feature she makes strongly evident on club banger “Hot Gyal Anthem” (Disorda Riddim, Esco da Shocker), and also “Center D Floor”Loony Toonz Riddim.
Along with music for the dance floor, look for the more contemplative side of iCandy as her writings also relate to the emotions of females, relationships and the nuances of life.
iCandy… the vibe, the sound, the name… Sweet on the eye and the ear
