U Brown is a popular reggae deejay who hails out of Jamaica and has produced 11 albums.

U Brown as he is known, was born Huford Brown on June 8th, 1956 in Kingston. While still very young, Brown's father took him to bars where he became fascinated by the jukeboxes, and there he began to fall in love with music. As his love for music grew, Brown began cutting school to go to local dances during the daytime. It was here that he began to take notice of the style of the popular deejays at the time, particularly Lord Comic, King Stitt, and Great U Roy. After practicing on his own for a few years, Brown got an opportunity to deejay on Silver Bullet sound in 1968. This gave him the introduction he needed to break into the dancehall circuit.

In 1975 however, Brown was given the opportunity of a lifetime as U Roy got into an accident and Brown was invited to deejay in his place since Brown's style closely resembled that of U Roy. When Roy heard how well Brown had performed, he was invited to Roy's school for formal training which helped to build his skills.

As his popularity grew, Brown was invited to record with various producers such as Bunny Striker Lee and Winston Edwards. He recorded "Keep On Knocking" with the late Jacob Miller with producer Joe Gibbs and this song received heavy airplay in Jamaica and the UK. On the heels of this success he went on to record such songs as "Say What You Saying", "Foundation", "Border", "Train To Zion", and "Children Of Jah".

When he became confident that he could survive on his own strength, he set up his own label Hit Sound Record in 1979. The very first album he self-produced "Weather Balloon" was an instant success as it went on to sell heavily in Europe and America. He has since then continued to produce for other artists and tour across the Americas, Europe and even in Japan.
