Sheila Hylton was born in London, England and grew up in Kingston, Jamaica with her grandparents. She credits her grandfather, a Jazz enthusiast as the one who created the perfect musical environment for her exposing her to the great sounds of the incomparable Billie Holiday, Bessie Smith, Louis Armstrong and Sara Vaughn, to name a few.

This mutli-talented artiste is an accomplished model, actress and singer who is mesmerized by reggae music, the post independence sounds of her homeland. She emerged on the scene with her debut recording, a reggae cover of Ebonys Life in the Country to rave reviews. Island Records soon caught onto "Sheilamania" and signed her to their Mango label with the release of a single, Dont Ask My Neighbour that steadily climbed the BBC no. 1 charts in England and held the no. 17 position for several weeks. Shortly after, Island Records had another hit on their hands with her recording of The Beds too Big Without You by English recording star, Sting and it is still a favourite of European and North American DJs. The single entered the charts with a bullet and held the number 12 position for many weeks. She received a Grammy Nomination as part of various artist album, Reggae Sunsplash 81: A Tribute to Bob Marley.

Sheila just completed the voicing on her first full-length album on the Platinum Overflow label at Naciamaj Studio in Kingston. The final mix was done at Stage and Harry J. Studio in Kingston guided by the creative genius of engineers Neil Ellis, Richard Small and Stephen Stewart. The album will hit the streets Fall 2006. Her recently released single One Room One Bed is picking up momentum. Sheila brings great sophistication and class to her work and is collaborating on this album with such notables from the music fraternity as the legendary producing duo, Sly and Robbie, Tyrone Downie, Dean Fraser, Wayne Armond, Robby Lyn, Crown Prince of Reggae, Dennis Brown and Michael Mikey Wallace in our memory and engineer extraordinaire, Khabir Bonner; all brought in sync by record producer and arranger, Ervin Alla Lloyd. The album is a distinctive blend of classic reggae rhythms and sultry soul.

Sheila recently brought the house down at the prestigious Sauvage in Paris. Her set included a wicked Bob Marley medley arranged by the legendary Tyrone Downey who also accompanied her keyboard. She proved to be a real artiste and garnered rave reviews as well as requests for several tours later this year. According to one reporter, Paris will never be the same.

This level vibe artist is very focused on the quality of the sound as she reinvents herself committed to please her existing fans and to stimulate new ones worldwide. According to Sheila, I am pleased to be working with my producer Alla who believed in me from the very beginning. He told me that he knows how I should sound and would like to produce me. It has been a long journey and I have no regrets with the final product. I am very confident that this synergy is an indicator of the international commercial success long overdue said the female reggae singer.
