Biography
read full storyIf the worth of an artist can be measured by passion, then those who eat, sleep, dream and breathe the thing that they do and do well have something special to offer us. To be fair Monique Dehaney is more than an artist. She is, in the way she walks talks dances and sings, an Entertainer. Her voice is mesmerizingly versatile and beautiful and she captivates on stage. Born and raised in the home of stalwarts such as Bob Marley and Dennis Brown. The flag of Jamaica is the one she bears proudly and at all times. The music is not just in her Jamaican blood, but it's the hard work, perseverance and passion of her hustler spirit that shines.
It is not her striking appearance or her Queenly dreadlocks that marks Monique as an entertainer. Her delicious voice has only been getting sweeter since 2005 when she first appeared on the scene in Japan. A recipe she is constantly perfecting. Always working, Monique has and continues to perform.
Her highly personal, impassioned style flavoured with Soul, Jazz, R&B and Reggae not only finds its expression in the many covers she has done of those that inspire her (Nina Simone and Roberta Flack to name a couple). Monique comes alive not just in the spotlight but also in the studio where she labors lovingly on her original works such as ‘Look of Love’ and ‘Rain’, ‘Hats Off’ which exemplify the width of her musical versatility.
Poised and aiming to take Tokyo then the world by tropical storm, she hopes to release an Album soon and sing to us all the music we’ve been waiting to hear.
Prepare to be entertained.
