Born and raised in Kingston Jamaica, Canadian Reggae artist Mikey Dangerous has been infusing the musical landscape with quality Reggae for over a decade earning him recognition as a solid, talented, multifaceted performing and recording artist. His compositions tastefully blend traditional vibes with a fresh feel, upbeat rhythms and rich melodies that resonate. Combining energetic performances with a smooth and powerful vocal flow, his unique style has crossover appeal that continues to captivate a growing and diverse fan base making him a musical force to be reckoned with. This year (2015) started with a bang for Mikey Dangerous as he was nominated for a 2nd Juno award with his single entitled “Wake Up” produced by Scorpio B of Dub Avenue Record Label. With one Juno Award already under his belt for the single “Don’t Go Pretending” (MBoss Records), and a catalogue of memorable tunes, Mikey Dangerous has made substantial musical contributions in Canada and internationally. Over the last year alone his music hit radio frequencies in more than seventy countries. Featured at a wide variety of shows and festivals internationally, Mikey Dangerous has a solid and well established performance resume. Some of his performances include JunoFest, Saskatoon Reggae and World Music Festival two time headliner, the recent 10-Year Anniversary for Victoria BC Ska Society, Ottawa’s Jam Day Celebration, Montreal’s Jamaica Day Celebrations, Toronto’s Jamaica Day, Hamilton’s Biggest Canada Day Celebration “It’s Your Festival”, Toronto’s Irie Festival, Montreal International Reggae Festival, the Calgary International Reggae Festival, International FreeSki Film Festival (if3.ca) three time headliner, Barbados Reggae Splash, Montreal International Tropical Festival and many others. Mikey Dangerous has shared the stage with feature reggae stars such as Shaggy, Beenie Man, Beres Hammond, Tony Rebel, Morgan Heritage, Tinga Stewart, Maxi Priest, Taurus Riley, Daville, and Sizzla. He was the opening act, touring with the hip hop group The Beatnuts, and has appeared in line-ups with other hip-hop artists like Nas, Mobb Deep, Ciara, Lil Jon, YingYang Twins and more. Along with a well established performance resume, Mikey Dangerous has an impressive catalogue of timeless recordings. His music has appeared on TV shows/commercials including Canadian produced sitcom “Da kink in my hair”. His latest releases include “Africa The Beautiful”(Watson Unlimited / Mboss Records, Feb 2015) “Protect More titles in Mikey Dangerous Catalogue include “You Are So Fine” (MBoss Records), “Your Love” (WildGeese Records), “The Only One” (Rootdown Records, Germany; 7inch 45’), “Mr. Murderah” (MBoss Records), “Can’t Stop My Flow” featured on Poirier’s Album “Running High” (Ninjatune Records.) “Opposites Attract” (Mountain Edge Productions), and “Silent Treatment” (Socalled). In addition to his own recordings Mikey Dangerous has been a guest feature in a variety of collaborations including a song with platinum selling hip hop group Dubmatique, another feature on Malicious’ album Music starts with M in “Harder”, and yet another with R&B sensation Addictiv in “Little Game” also featuring artist Pitbull and hype man Kay Slay. Some of Dangerous’ earliest releases include his first single “Rasta Don’t Dwell” on 45rpm 7", (Young Lions label); the song was later released on a compilation titled after the single. The Young Lions label later released another six singles for Dangerous on 45 rpm 7" starting with “Gal Yuh a Di Wife”. His next single “Performance Drive” appeared on the Millennium Dancehall Style Vol. 1 compilation (VP Records).
me Jah” (The Empire Riddim, by:Riddim Wise Nov-2014) “WAKE UP” (Dub Avenue, Oct-2014), and “Anywhere Anytime” produced by Inna Mi Yard Productions on the Wrong Move riddim. Some of the his biggest titles to date include “Don’t Go Pretending” produced by Tim Dub, and as noted above, recipient of The Canadian Juno Award for Reggae Recording of the Year in 2008. Then came another timeless reggae classic entitled “Higher Than High” on the Downtown Riddim produced by Riddimwise which sat comfortably at #1 for much of 2013 on the Reggae Vibes Hot 'n' Fresh Top 15 and remained at the top of the chart well into 2014. More recent titles include the single entitled “TGIF” (Dub Avenue Label) crossing musical boundaries with its mainstream sound and party theme! This song was later picked up by Chiney K, and titled the “DRINKS UP” Riddim featuring a number of other artists on the riddim. His next single “So Proud” (Dub Avenue).. another classic - an absolute anthem. The song is informative to its listeners and pays tribute to the National Heroes of Jamaica. In March of 2014 Mikey Dangerous connected with Jamaican Dancehall Artist Iyara for a colaboration entitled “We Govern Di Road” Produced by Tim Dub and released by Dub Tone Music!
Mikey Dangerous’ fanbase has seen a steady incline in numbers from around the globe since the beginning of his career. His music steadily continues to break barriers, reaching new levels of success and bringing Mikey Dangerous one step closer to his career long goal of becoming an internationally recognized household name in Reggae music.
