Fresh from the UK, Edward Holland Junior is a producer, song writer, musician and vocalist, set for a bright future in the Gospel Reggae scene.
Born in London, England, Edward moved to the South Coast at a young age. He first heard reggae at his local youth club, and at the tender age of 10 years old he was listening to artists like Shabba Ranks, UB40 and Mr. Vegas. As a teenager, he started learning the guitar and was influenced by a number of music genres. But unlike other kids of his age, he had a strong passion for Reggae, especially Roots and Dub, listening to artists such as Burning Spear, Lee Perry and Scientist. At this stage in his life, Edward was attending church, but with no real commitment. It wasn't until he was 19 that he was given the opportunity to join the worship team at WCC Bournemouth, a risk taken by the leadership, but one which proved crucial to his life, as he committed himself to God and focused his musical talent on praise and worship in the church. Having almost given up on Reggae, Edward found Christafari's album 'Gravity' in a local Christian bookshop, which completely changed his musical outlook and influenced him to begin writing and recording gospel reggae music.
Now, with his first international release 'Virtual Reality', Edward Holland Junior has combined an authentic roots sound with a Christ centred message, to give you 12 tracks of roots reggae, with heavy dub overtones, all written, produced and performed by the man himself. He cites the UK sound system wars of the late 70's and early 80's as his musical inspiration for this project, as well as modern gospel reggae artists like Solomon Jabby, Domonic Balli, Jah Servant and Roge Abergel. This exciting new album will reach deep into your soul.
Determined to?increase awareness of the gospel reggae scene, Edward Holland Junior is keen to spread the message of the gospel across the UK and beyond. Currently he is producing Riddims and remixes for top artists on both sides of the Atlantic.
