Biography
read full storyBen Hompaya (birth named Benoît HANSEN) was born in Grenoble, in the French Alps mountains. A son of the soil, whose first love was music. Started playing musical instruments such as the piano, guitar, bass, harmonica or percussions at a very young age. His inspiration to be a reggae artist begun when he started listening to the hits of the legend Bob Marley at the age of 15 as “Africa Unite”.
He travelled more than 30 countries on nearly all the continents and sailed across the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea: this three-years of musical and spiritual journey ended in the island of Sand, Sea and Sun, Ska, Rocksteady and Reggae, Jamaica.
His spirit fully opened and energized, he met one of the biggest Jamaican artist: Cassafaya. He loved how Ben Hompaya played the guitar perfectly on key but he wondered how his vocal couldn’t be. However, he could sense his big potential and willingness and decided to teach him the art of singing.
Then they produced a song - Love Universally - with some of the most recognized Jamaicans (Dr Marshall, Kurk & Danny Bassie, EQ…). The song is now rotating on some of the most renown TV and radio stations. Afterwards they found a label named Hompaya Music Production. Ben Hompaya is now working with Cassafaya on an EP: Black & White (for 2013), featuring Anthony B.
