Pepsi Jamaica has launched the first media executed competition created to unearth new talent within our rich musical culture called Winnin’ Riddim. The competition will see contestants spanning from ages 13 to 35 with an interest in becoming the next major music producer.

Pepsi Winnin’ Riddim press launch at Terra Nova, guests and sponsors witnessed the beginning of what music industry icons Michael Harris and Mikey Bennett see as a much needed initiative. These icons mentioned that the Riddims is what every music lover considers the heart of the soul of the music.

Music industry veteran producer Michael “Ibo” Cooper entertained us all with the history of the Riddim sharing sounds and songs that all could relate to and none could forget. Other sponsors that will be part of the competition are KFC, FLOW, IRIE FM and ZIP 103FM contributing to $500,000 prizes to be won. This fully endorsed competition promises to be the most exciting, creative and talked about music event this year.

The call to entry start date was January 28th, where competitors can upload their riddim to the Facebook app. The school tour will then begin on Feb 1st to 9th, where the mentors are taken to the schools to interact with the kids. Open voting for the public will be on Feb 14th and the elimination process begins on February 26th. There will be live voting in various clubs such as, Montego Bay, Kingston and Portmore. The grand finals will be on March 12th where the winner will be announced on Live TV. This will be a most anticipated competition for music lovers from all genres.
