This upcoming artiste whose real name is Ricardo McLean was born in 1983 in the Montego Bay community of Rose Heights where he is popularly called Rickey and Teetz. He has been embracing music from young age, Rickey Teetz has performed at places such has Magaritaville, Britjam Fantasy Island, Live on The water Front, Wakesfield Jerkfest, Jamfest and hundreds of other shows.

According to “Rickey Teetz”, “The Music business in Jamaica right now is dominated by the Capital and soon a son of the west will be representing.”

The First original single “Rise Up” is about the day to day hustle which shows the writing skill of Rickey Teetz using a lot of similes & metaphors. He also has an underground project with 13 songs which is now being listened to by a lot of persons. The next original single “What Life Is” explains where Rickey Teetz is coming from and the hardships that he has gone through. Rickey Teetz has a range of songs which will hot the streets shortly.

The young Artiste/Entrepreneur says he is hell-bent on making it to the big times in music regardless of the obstacles which may come his way. He says “although the projection of music in the dancehall is one sided and several disc jocks will not give me the time of day, I am on a quest to tell my stories through music.”

The struggle of Rickey Teetz started in 1989 when his father passed away. He along with the rest of his family, started to move around until they settled in Rose Heights. In an effort to make ends meet, he entered the hardships of the Charles Gordon Market, selling scandal bags, bag juice, pop corn, bread among other things.

In the mid nineties he moved to Lethe on the border of St. James and Hanover to work in a bakery. While there he was warmly welcomed by the English family. Because of his good skills at simple mathematics, they took him, sent him to school and he employed to work in a shop. He sat the Grade Six Achievement Test, GSAT in 1996 and gained a place at the Anchovy High School from where he graduated in 2001.

2002 was a turning point for Rickey Teetz as he jumped into the world of work. He was however forced to return to Rose heights to live later that year as a result of the passing of his mother. His new found responsibilities posed a number of new challenges as he pushed towards making ends meet. Though he was sometimes tempted to do wrong, Rickey Teetz stayed humble and then turn to being an Entrepreneur.

This budding entertainer has “been there and done that” He was the “father” of his younger brothers and sisters whom he financed through school. However tragedy struck again in 2006 when he lost one of his brothers to add to the lost of his parents earlier.

This marked his fulltime engagement in the music business. He used the loss of his family members as inspiration and determination in his music
